Zabidi Shabaneh (2004 -2010)

Tuan Haji Zabidi Shabaneh, is a typical Penangites. He received his early education at SK Datok Keramat. He continued his secondary level at Westland Secondary School, Penang. He excel in sport and almost neglected his studies.

He is happily married to a nurse from Kampung Lintang Kuching. According to him, he met his wife during one of the sport meet in Penang. Three quarter of his life is spent in Sarawak, his wife hometown.

He jumped into banking world by chance when one of the Branch Manager offered him the job in Penang. He is always wanted to be a scuba diver

After completing his Microsoft Certified System Engineer. THZS was given the task to head the Bank’s IT Division covering East Malaysia (Sarawak and Sabah). In 2002, he left the IT Division to join the Forex Division for 3 years before going to Serian as Customer Service Officer. Effective middle of September 2006, he headed Customer Service Division of Twin Tower Branch.

Among the golfers, he is well-known as a President of C30 and has successfully organised Golf tour as far as Bantam Indonesia and Perth Australia.

PGABS-wise, he is not only the Penolong Setiausaha but also heading the Golf Activities and Welfare Sub-committee. His early task was the PGABS Classic. Excerpt of my interview on 5th September 2006:

How would you describe yourself in one sentence?
I am a nice guy, easy to get along with, friendly and good golfer.

What would you be if you were not a golfer?
I am crazy for tennis and scuba diving. I was a state tennis player for 3 years but unfortunately never won any tournament.

If you were stranded in an island, whom do you want to be with and why?
I would like to be with Siti Nurhaliza minus Datuk K of course. Anybody in an isolated island will surely need a partner to survive.

Which Hollywood actress would you consider for a hot date?
Simply I am dying for Nicole Kidman. She is cool and cute.

What is the best gift you ever received?
Receiving letter of transfer to Kuching in August 2006.

When was the last time you play 2 birdies in one nine?
Honestly I can't remember.

Where is the last place on earth you would like to play golf?
It would have to be the Lebanon. I don’t think I can play under the bombardment of the Israelis. And moreover, no K30 members will ever want to join the Golf tour to the country at war.

Given a chance to play in one of the PGA Tour, which pro would you like to play with and why?
I would like to play with Tiger Wood because I want to be seen on TV.

Out of the 3 ABUs (Abu Bakar Suhai, Abu Bakar Kiprawi and Abu Bakar Marzuki) whom do you prefer to play with and why?
I am comfortable when playing against Abu Bakar Kiprawi but always loss to Abu Bakar Suhai in deciding Superballs. And, I have yet to win over the other Abu.

If you are given a lifetime chance to play with and fix the result, how do you want it to be?
I will play in British Open alongside Tiger Wood and outrun him by a different of 5 strokes. Marvellous isn’t it?
