Soo Kee Man has spent over 18 years in various management capabilities in financial industry. He started his career with Bank Bumi as a Credit Head in Sri Aman and later moved to Kuching as Assistant Manager at TARS Branch. Moving on, he was posted to Sibu as a Branch Manager prior to ending his banking career in Miri. After completing his study on Malaysia Insurance Institute UK, he switched to insurance industry in 2001 and he is currently with Transnational Insurance Broker(M) Sdn Bhd.

Soo Kee Man boyish looks makes it difficult for people to believe that he has a 13-year-old daughter. "I'm a father of five, 3 boys and 2 girls and my youngest is 3 years old," he said proudly. “At the rate I’m going, I expect to have my 6th child next year… Jawa style lah!”. Soo Kee Man married 15 years ago to his boss secretary who hails from Sebuyau after a year of in-office love affair. “Uniquely, our love affair started after a quarrel” reminisced Soo Kee.

His late father was a Javanese from Bandjarmasin but Soo Kee Man is never a Javanese in his language.

Soo Kee is known for his jovial and exuberance character. He was twice asked to stand under the sun during his primary school days after found hiding the teacher’s car key and painting some graffiti. Socially, he was never an orator but one of the most interesting and interactive emcee.

Personal question…where and how do you meet your wife?
Long Story. We were together in Sri Aman but in different department. Our chemistry started after we had a small argument over a simple matter. I found that she looked beautiful when scolded and the rest were personal statistic…

What made you start playing golf, and how?
Omar triggered everything. In early 90s he was the only bank’s golfer and enjoyed the privilege of playing along our bosses. In 1993 he was especially flown from Bintulu just to play golf with our Chairman. I envied him.

Which Hollywood actress would you consider for a hot date?
I would go for Paris Hilton as she has the beauty and owns a chain of hotels.

Given a chance to enter a reality show, which of these (Fear Factor, AF, Explorace) would you choose and why?
I would prefer an AF because I want to see how many will ‘AFUNDI WAK KIMAN’

What would you be if you were not an insurance man?
I would do parachuting because you find freedom plus free fall… and I want to cure my height phobia.

What is it about you that your wife wants you to keep going day after day and why?
My wife wants me to continue snoring for 2 reasons. First, after 16 years of sleeping together the sound is already music to her. Secondly, if I stop snoring meaning I am no longer breathing.

If you are given a chance to swallow anybody you like, who do you prefer?
I would want to swallow and kill the men who entered and robbed my house.

If you could choose to be the following Super Hero, (Superman, The Hulk, Spiderman) which would it be and why?
It is either a Superman or Spiderman, as they are our Javanese heroes.

What’s the one thing that irritates you during your golf round?
Cheats. Everyone should be honest, even if you have to lose the game.

If you could be an animal, what would it be and why?
A karabau, because it is very dark and tought like a golfer. *laughs*

If you are a golf ball, what would it be and why?
I would prefer to be a Titliest so that Lorena Ochoa would hold me tight after getting me out of the hole… ahh…cup. I wish not to be played by Tiger as he is a hard hitter.

What is your advice about smoking?
Smoking is linked to lung cancer, emphysema, blindness, infertility and 50 killer diseases. I appeal to PGABS member to stop smoking.

What is your vision for PGABS?
I want the association to be respected and owned by every member.
