Editor's Pick, Other Tournament, SICG 7:14 PM Text Size : [+] | [-]THE inaugural Sarawak Inter-Community Golf championship is expected to showcase the top amateur golfers representing their respective ethnic groups.
To be held at Sarawak Golf Club (KGS) on October 23, the Bidayuh team will be led by Bengoh assemblyman Dr Jerip Susil, Orang Ulu by Isaac Lugun, Iban by Information, Communications and Culture Deputy Minister Datuk Joseph Salang, Chinese by Brian Chien Chai Ung, Melanau by Sarawak Forestry Corporation managing director Datuk Len Talif Salleh and the Malay by Petra Jaya MP Fadillah Yusof.
Some 60 guests consisting of VIPs, golfers from Brunei and Sabah, and women golfers of KGS will be invited to the championship aimed at fostering closer bonds and improving the social cohesiveness of golfers of different ethnic backgrounds.
The entries for each team are limited to 10 participants for Gross and 20 for Nett category. The championship will be decided by stroke play over 18 holes for all categories.
Team Event
Each team shall consist of 30 players from same community whereby 10 players shall play under the Gross Category with valid NHS handicap of 24 and below.
The 5 best gross aggregate scores shall be the winning team for GROSS Category and 10 best Nett aggregate scores shall be the winning team for the NETT Category.
Apart from the trophies, The prizes will be awarded to each player from both Gross and Nett winning teams.
Individual Event
The total of 15 prizes to be won under the Individual Event. Prizes will be given to the 5 best score for Gross Category and 10 best score for Nett Category.
Invitation Category
The format of the play is stableford and open to invited individuals
Novelties includes
One prize EACH for Nearest to the Pin (NTP) and Nearest to the Line (NTL) at Matang/Santubong
One prize EACH for Nearest to the Pin (NTP) and Nearest to the Line (NTL) at Siol/Demak
Note: Gross and Invited Categories to Tee-off at Matang/Santubong Course whilst Nett Category to play at Siol/Demak Courses.
