PGABS OUT-ROARED TIGER

KGS (20 Apr): Around 100 supporters and on-lookers including YB Nancy Sukri witnessed PGABS advanced into the semi-final. PGABS outran Tiger 3-2 in a tightly contested quarter final. First point was won by single Yusri and second point was by 4-ball Nasir-Zaidi. The third winning points was collected by first 4-ball team of Ahoi-Omar at the 18th Hole.
Foursome combination came close to winning but Saadi
Yusri produced a class of his own after beating Korean Oh Se Ho 5 with 4 holes to go. Playing his normal game, Yusri was already 5 up on the first nine and came as much as 6 up in the second nine. Second single player, Lokman Mustaffa was outran by Richard Chia. Lawasian, Lokman was a doubtful starter as he was still nursing his back pain.
Second 4-ball team, Nasir-Zaidi won the sudden death at the 19th Hole after scrambling to level the match at Hole 18. Nasir said after the match "We were lucky to survive after going down 0-1 at the 17th Hole"
The crowd grew bigger as Ahoi and Omar stepped into the 18th Tee-box to decide the winner. The headwind was 20 kmph and humidity was 59%. As Ahoi deposited his ball into the right water hazard, Omar torpedoed his drive 250 yards into the fairway but sit in a divot. He topped his second shot but 'cobra' his third shot 5 feet from the yellow pin.
It was a big roar from the gallery after Omar completed his winning putt. "Today is the rerun of our match against Alpha Mount. It was the same "hair-raising" moment by the same combination, same green except with much bigger crowd" said Captain BJ after the celebration was over.
Note: The PGABS players thanks all the supporters and the sponsors as without their presence, the team success may not come to this height. PGABS will be playing KKB in the semi-final next week.

BJ and his foursome partner were unlucky to loose their match. It was shot for shot until the 18th hole. BJ was playing with a severe cold, sniffling his way through out the match. He was not his usual sharp self from the fairway but he putted like the devil possessed. His partner, Saadi was no less tenacious. I watched his near- miraculous shot from near the water hazard on the 16th. It was terrain-hugging all the way until it stopped pin-high. BJ duly putted for par to win the hole and square the match at that point. They eventually lost the hard-fought match on the 18th hole.
With fighting spirit shown by the team, I would not be surprised if they go all the way to the final. Go, PGABS go. We are all behind you.
Hurray!! The dark-horses, PGABS Masja, did it again! They won the match against fancied Tiger against all odds. The team, made up of virtual unknowns at the start of the tournament caught everybody by surprise. People are starting to take notice. Their next opponent KBB, must be wondering is this the team they beat so easily in the preliminaries?
PGABS, keep the flag flying high. You have gone this far. What the heck. Let's see you go all the way to the final. We will be there for you.

Dear Omar/S/U PGABS,
Saya mengucapkan setinggi-tinggi takniah diatas kejayaan yang telah dicapai oleh Team PGABS (dan juga Kapten Team Event) dalam Pertandingan "Team-Event KGS Tahun 2008" pada 20hb April 2008. Memang sudah ditugakan bahawa PGABS banyak pemain golf yang baik. PGABS telah pun mencipta banyak rekod pada tahun-tahun yang lalu di KGS, perseorangan ataupun team-event. Kekalkan kesungguhan dan jaga displin setiap waktu dalam pertandingan.
Saya doa kan semoga pasukan PGABS terus mencapai kemengan dan menjadi Johan pada tahun 2008. Pertingkatkan semengat dan Insyaallah PGABS akan berjaya.
