Vital putt put Era kris-TALL - THE CHAMPION
Amin & Man Rongan are 'Men of The Match'
Petra Jaya (Sunday): Era Kristal emerged champion beating KKB 3-2 in just concluded KGS Matchplay Championship 2008 today. Thanks to the 10-foot par putt by Man 'Rongan' that earned the team RM8,000 worth of prize-money.
KKB, who advanced to final by default after a dramatic boycott by PGABS, came close to winning the game but 12-foot putt by Ambrose Wong just grazed the edge of the hole.
Earlier, Haji Jalil-Asahari 4-ball combination was out-classed 6-7 and Abd Rahim tamed by Dr Tan by the same margin. Era Single player, Leonard Chin won the match at hole 15 with 4-3 after early contribution by foursome Bob-Kassim, one up.
Amin-Man Rongan scambled from behind to level the match at hole 14. They won at Hole 15 and while they were playing at hole 16, Leornard Chin won and levelled the game 2-2. After clinging one up at hole 16, ERA lost the point at hole 17 and climbed t-box 18 equal.
In the most tense and dramatic moment, Amin sliced his drive and deposited his ball into a man-made stream. Man Rongan sent his ball into the fairway but 175 meters from the green. Man Rongan torpedoed his second shot into the right green bunker, while Lee Kui Thiam and Ambrose Wong found the green too far. The rest was the 'battle of the putt' for Man Rongan vs two KBB players.
Unlike the quarter-final match between PGABS and Tiger, the crowd was much lesser suggesting the championship has reached its anti-climax.
Era Kristal dubbed 'the rich and pay most' went to final without losing any game. Earlier, they won against KKB in the semi final with the same margin but not after the sudden death until the 20th.

congratulation and syabas to Team Era Kristal. You are the best... the unbeaten.. the climax was the moment the golf ball putted by man ronggan enter the hole... in the hole... Team Era Kristal just being confirmed
"THE CHAMPION 2008"...
Congratulation ERA KRISTAL, the par put maybe the climax of anti-climax but you are the PGABS member too.
I subscribe to the decision made by PGABS on boycotting the semis of the match play as decision was by consensus and hopefully too that we have have consulted our President/Advisor and sponsor. Not to drag on the matter, I feel oblige to give my personal view for future reference (if members feel they are valid).
1. Sportmanship Vs Dignity...my believe is that, Sport is always sport, fight with dignity on sport arena (Sport Vs. Sport)and not due to other factors like emotion, self interest, revenge, malice etc.
2. If there is dignity at stake, fight it out through other means e.g through politic (in the wider meaning), resistence (I prefer Passive Resistent...the Gandhi way).
3. As an organisation, always remember who are our "head" and our decision must not jeopardise their image.
4. I do hope, besides putting the blame on TC for the fiasco, we need to look inward to ourselves where we have gone wrong (if any)and improvise/improve for a better future
5. To the players...sorry this has to happen, keep your spirit high and I am sure more sponsors will come as all of you have shown your grits and skills...Move forward.
Regards.
